This column series focuses on foreign friends, sharing their experiences of studying and living in Daqing, their authentic observations and heartfelt feelings. It showcases the city’s charm, human warmth, openness and inclusiveness from an international perspective, records the warm moments of mutual understanding and friendship between China and the world, and builds a friendly bridge for people-to-people bonds, exchanges and mutual learning.

In this issue, we meet Aimee LEE, an international student from Côte d'Ivoire at Northeast Petroleum University, and listen to her study-abroad story of encountering ice and snow, as well as gaining warmth in Daqing, Heilongjiang Province.

跨越赤道与山海，李爱梅从西非来到了北国油城大庆。在一场场漫天飞雪中，她读懂了这座城市的热情与包容。

地处松嫩平原，大庆的冬日是极致的。但当她穿上厚衣服，走进白雪皑皑的世界，她发现——这里的冷，挡不住骨子里的热；这里的雪，美得让人心醉。

在东北石油大学留学，环境优美，老师热情和蔼。校园里的三大食堂，每一个都让她流连忘返。地道的东北菜，熨帖了她异乡的胃，也让她快速融入了大庆的生活。

作为一座因油而兴的城市，大庆不仅拥有着工业的硬朗，更有着如黑土地般的厚重。她敞开怀抱接纳了每一位远道而来的朋友。李爱梅说：“欢迎大家来大庆，来东北石油大学。来感受这里纯粹的冰雪盛景，来发现这座工业城市的独特魅力！”
